The bike sharing system is spreading across Lebanon. Beirut got its first bike sharing station two days ago and Byblos followed today. Let’s hope that this project will expand outside Beirut to include all of Lebanon’s coastal towns.

I am trying to get more information regarding the whole initiative. I tried checking their [website] but it’s not up yet. According to this DailyStar article, Beirut’s municipality will provide one station of 12 bicycles for every university in Beirut and there will be no charge to use the bikes during the first year.

For those living outside Beirut, the project will eventually expand so commuters can get into the city using the system. “A shuttle will take commuters from the parking lots to the bicycle stations,” Kaskas said. A parking lot will be established at the north and south entrances to Beirut, he added.
