Lebanese men can’t beat or kill their women anymore

As absurd as the title may seem, that’s what the law amendments proposed by MP Sami Gemayel few months ago were all about and today they were finally approved by the government and put into action.
The old law basically stated that if a man were to surprise his wife or one of his female relatives in bed with someone, and committed a crime against them, it would not be considered as a first degree murder but an “honor killing” and would receive a lower sentence.

Jenna, I suppose you are the one who should do all the growing up here. You just attacked the entire Lebanese people with a blatant stereotype. There are cheaters in every culture, Lebanese or not. I guess am glad am a mature one year old rather than being a immature “grown-up”.

Accepted. This topic can not be treated with sarcasm or lightly. It is deadly. Women have been abused in their daily lives in Lebanon…Be that mentally or physically…and it encompasses the whole society irrespective of sect or level of income. I have heard time and again whereas educated women describe their “acceptance” of this abuse as a compromise to be with their “man” (what a man it takes to abuse a woman eh?) . Time for a culture change in the society.
