Wael Kfoury’s new album

Wael Kfoury is doing it all wrong with his new album release:

1- The album has no name

2- He is using the GodFather’s movie font (via Patrick)

3- In one of the posters he looks like taking a dump [Link]

Is he going for that “Sean Connery” or “George Clooney” look? So sad.

  2. I am probably the biggest fan of The Godfather in Lebanon, so this might seem as a bit over, but how does someone as bad as Wael Kfoury (I’m not a huge fan), use the font of the greatest movie ever made.
Sure it’s a normal font like every other font, but since 1972, no one has seen it being used except for the movie.

I won’t argue with points 1 and 3 but you’re suggesting that everything now should have it’s own font?

    • Patrick says:

The font for the Godfather, was made for the Godfather movie. It’s like taking a font used in someones logo (like I dunno… Metallica or whatever) and using it for yourself, commercially.

      • Tomp says:

so it’s the Corleone font which is based on the font created for the God Father movie…. Apple Garamond font was created by Apple for their Think Different campaign and it’s public and widely used, so what?!

        • but apple is not The Godfather
(again, coming from the person who probably loves the Godfather more than any one in Lebanon)
now im not saying that it’s wrong or illegal, and I know its a bit stupid, but there are 100s of other fonts

          • Tomp says:

actually Apple is the Godfather; the Godfathfather of both the PC era and the post-PC era… but that’s a different story I guess ;)

        • Patrick says:

There’s a difference between a font used for an operating system and a typeface created for a brand.

          • Tomp says:

I don’t want to start a debate out of a non-story, I didn’t say the Apple Garamond font was created for the OS but it was created for their Think Different campaign which was the face of their brand/company.

That font is so strongly associated with The Godfather that I doubt anyone could take it seriously as the font for anything else.

What pisses me off even more is that his PR company probably thinks we’re all too stupid and uninformed to even know of a 40 year-old film. Ooops.

Maybe it’s a progressive rock concept album based on the Sicilian mob crimes in pre-war America?
