A couple of years ago, we had a similar storm to the one happening right now in Lebanon and the Health minister at the time decided to close schools and NURSERIES as well, assuming all parents have the luxury of taking a day off work and staying with their kids.
Obviously extreme weather conditions require special circumstances but shutting down all schools is not really feasible nor logical if businesses aren’t affected as well. The rational thing to do is shut down schools in the mountains where roads are completely closed or schools are totally unequipped or leave it to the school’s administration to decide in a way that ensures their students’ safety.
On a side note, it would be good if concerned ministries would take FOR ONCE pre-emptive measures to properly equip public schools for winter and run checks on the buses/heating systems/school infrastructure etc.
