In Pictures: My First Visit To Horsh Beirut

20150919_114052

Today was my first ever visit to Horsh Beirut. The 40,000-sq-metre green space has finally re-opened to the public last Saturday after almost 25 years. I went there around 1:20 pm and easily found a parking spot on the main road. The security at the door asked me for my ID and let me in then volunteers greeted me and explained the rules and guidelines to follow inside the park.

I walked around for 30-40 minutes but didn’t see that many people there unfortunately. You’d expect the place to be crowded with families and kids but that wasn’t the case. It could be that it’s still too hot and people are in the mountains or I just went there too early. In all cases, Horsh Beirut is a beautiful place and one of the very few green spaces left in Beirut and I encourage everyone to go there. It’s a great place to walk, jog, bike and there’s a huge area where you can sit around with your family and friends. Kids can safely play around while you sit down and enjoy the sun.

Horsh Beirut is open every Saturday for the time being and will be open on Sundays soon. Enjoy the pictures!
