In Pictures: The 2016 Beirut Marathon

Over 40,000 took part in this year’s edition of the Beirut Marathon. The organization was much better than last year and I loved the setup on Martyrs Square. Thousands were running for the first time, for a cause, for fun and with their families. I went down this year but didn’t run because I had a sprained toe (the night before lol!).

The winner of the 42K (Men) was Edwin kibet Kiptoo from KENYA. Hussein Awada was the first Lebanese in 8th spot. Lebanese Champion and Olympian Chirine Njeim finished fourth ahead of her sister in the 42K (Women) race while Tigist girma Getachew from ETHIOPIA won the race. Lebanese Champion Edward Maalouf was the first Lebanese to finish in the 42.195km handcylce race.

The pictures were taken by myself, a couple of friends and the Beirut Marathon FB page.
