The National Library has been finally inaugurated yesterday after years of restoration works. Old manuscripts and books have been brought back and the library is ready to open to the public!
The National Library was first established in the house of Phillipe de Tarrazi in 1919, before moving to its new premises in Sanayeh. The library was frequently bombed during the Civil war and had to shut its doors down in 1979. The newly renovated library includes reading rooms, conference halls, and an events venue to host cultural activities.
