In case you’ve missed this terrible news, a 20-year-old UC Davis Lebanese student was stabbed to death in a city park. Karim Abou Najm was biking home from an academic awards ceremony in Davis when he was stabbed to death at Sycamore Park; he is the second person to be stabbed and killed in the past few days at this park.
Karim attended International College in Beirut before moving to the US with his family in 2018. He joined Davis Senior High School and graduated with high honors, before getting accepted to UC Davis. Karim was only six weeks away from graduating with a bachelor’s in computer science with honors.
To honor him, UC Davis launched the Karim Majdi Abou Najm Memorial Undergraduate Student Research Award to support undergraduate UC Davis students doing research.
His father’s words were heart-breaking during an interview with a local station. All we can hope for at this point is for the authorities to catch the murderer ASAP and give Karim’s family justice.
