The vital road that connects the town of Jezzine South of Lebanon to Saida and surrounding villages is at high risk of collapse. Last Friday, a wall partially collapsed blocking the entrance for a short while before the Jezzine municipality worked on reopening the road. However, this was not an isolated incident as the wall needs to be fixed and the town has been waiting on the authorities to assign it to a contractor for several months now.
The collapse of this road could isolate Jezzine from its surrounding and cause a serious problem to its residents, and their fate is in the hands of the Council for Development and Reconstruction that has yet to decide on a contractor.
Let’s hope this doesn’t end up like the Chekka tunnel which hasn’t been fixed to date.
