If you haven’t met yet our new Public Works & Transport Minister, he was on TV the other day claiming that Lebanon never had a transportation crisis before 2019, and that the government never really considered enhancing the public transportation network because everyone had a car.
It appears that the minister forgot the cost of traffic and the cost of environmental degradation in Lebanon on the economy, add to that the billions of dollars wasted on subsidized fuel and imported cars and several other factors. It’s quite shocking that such a statement would come out from a minister of transport, but then again why should he be any different from other ministers we have?
