Lebanon only recycles 6% of its collected waste even though there are more than 100 companies and NGOs ready to receive our waste. Ever since the garbage crisis, more and more municipalities are starting to recycle and it’s working well for them!
I watched a report that Roumieh is now recycling more than 65% of its waste and I received a couple of memos from municipalities that started the recycle process. It’s a very simple process and it will generate money for every town and village. More importantly, it will reduce waste, pollution and protect the environment. My only worry is that municipalities are considering recycling now but will drop it once the garbage crisis is resolved.
