Red Bull organized a one-of-its-kind urban climbing competition a couple of weeks ago when they invited Lebanese climbers to conquer the wall of Al Kamal building, a 35 meters war-torn and riddled building. The building is quite visible for anyone crossing the Fouad Chehab Avenue (Ring Road) and overlooks Beirut’s Martyrs square.

The challenge was to climb the wall with a required of 90 moves. Fifty-two participants – men and women, old and young, first-time and professional climbers- took part in the challenge and only 5 participants proceeded to the final and toughest round.

The competition took over 4 hours and Georges Emil emerged as a winner climbing 35 meters over a time of 2 minutes and 41 seconds, followed by Edgar Azzi and Nicolas Saadeh. [Red Bull]
