The first of two power ships finally arrived to Lebanon and will dock near the Zouk power plant. Linking the vessel to the Zouk power plant will take at least 3 weeks. The two powerships combined are supposed to generate 270 megawatts of electricity, and allow the authorities to undergo some maintenance works (Thank you Kuwait) on the old electric power-plants in Zouk and Jiyyeh in order to enhance their production.
Lebanon currently produces 1,500 MW of electricity per day while its consumption exceeds 2,400 MW. In my opinion, this is a positive step but I still think we should have parallel plans to handle the problem like the one Electrical Engineer Ahmad Habli proposed and by promoting environmentally friendly solutions such as solar panels.
