Following the latest Burkini controversy, a summer resort in Zgharta is now allowing veiled women wearing Burkinis to swim on Tuesdays only.
When asked by one of the readers on why it’s only allowed on Tuesdays, they said:
“The burkini swimsuit is new to our culture and not everyone accepts it for the time being, we just tried to do something and to help fix this problem, and like you know many many resorts in Lebanon refuse to allow this swimsuit. We believe everyone has a right to wear any swimsuit but like I said the problem is the culture. In the end we set the day and we advertised it to protect the veiled woman from any arguments with someone opposing this swimsuit
I think they made the problem worse rather than fix it, by admitting their culture promotes discrimination. No matter how many resorts do it, it doesn’t make you any better if you allow Burkinis on Tuesday when no one, belonging to that culture of yours, is there to see them.
On another note, you don’t need to specify veiled women wearing Burkinis because the Burkini covers the whole body except the face, the hands and the feet. Just call them women wearing Burkinis.
PS: I can’t stop laughing at the picture. Why are they so happy in the picture?
