The Lebanese Minister of Environment, who also heads the Committee for Disaster & Crisis Management in the country, has announced today that 1247 people were killed and 5278 were injured since the start of the Israeli attacks. He also added that more than 53,000 people are currently residing in 360 shelters across the country and that approximately 150,000 had to leave their homes due to the bombings.

The number of kills is almost double the number being shared by the Ministry of Health for some reason, and I haven’t seen yet a website that documents who got killed and which town got hit in case people want to check on their missing families or relatives. You’d expect a crisis cell to have something planned at times of war.

In the mean time, and despite talks about a diplomatic push for a 21-days long ceasefire, things are escalating even further and Israel’s military said today it is preparing for a possible ground incursion into Lebanon, and has called up two reserve brigades “for operational missions in the northern sector”. Meanwhile, Hezbollah continues to fire rockets and has hit Haifa and Tel Aviv today.
