Lebanon’s Minister of Energy & Water held a press conference this morning to unveil the findings of the Block-4 drilling. Unfortunately, while preliminary results proved the presence of gas at various depths in offshore block 4, the volumes appear to be too little to make it commercially viable.

The Minister did mention the findings are encouraging though and will help optimize the drilling in Block-9 and others. He did not specify however when will the drilling begin in Block 9, but my guess it will be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the oil crisis.

In all cases, we will be waiting for the official report from the drilling companies.
