Watched an NBA game (the pre-game entertainment was kinda cool, but the game sucked and the Knicks lost)
Walked around SOHO, Chinatown and Little Italy
Went to the Apple store. Got Najib a brand new iPhone, mabrouk
Saw the taping of a Top Gear episode! They painted a Ferrari the colors of a New York City cab!!
Went on the NBC Experience tour in Rockefeller Center
Went to M&M World
Waited in line for a slight possibility to watch the David Letterman show, didn’t happen…
Does anyone know in which show does this building appear?
Thanks for sharing your trip thus far Chahe. I have been a reader of this blog for a few months, and thoroughly enjoy it. I wanted to point out, in case you aren’t already aware of it, that iPhones sold in the U.S. are locked so that they can only be authorized to work on the AT&T network unless you hack them.
Walaw ya Ziad, Iphones have been locked since ever and people have been jailbreaking them since.
I am glad to hear that then Najib. 🙂 Mabrook by the way.
this building appears in two shows, though one is wayyy more famous than the other: “Friends” (it’s where Chandler works) and “La méthode Zoé” (dunno the title in english, it’s the story of a girl who works in an insurance company and raises the kids of her sister who had been killed).
TV addict *sigh*
Chahe , do an interview with a guy selling hotdogs and post it here , it should be fun hehe
Ziad, i’ve been telling that to najib but he insisted. I’m gonna get one from Saudi, they come factory unlocked there.
Didie, good guess! Didn’t know about the Zoe thing though
Toufic, maaaaaan these hot dog vendors are repulsive. They look and smell horrible, I’m not gonna try them. Btw espn zone is shut down.
Chahe;
Go to Chinatown; they’ll unlock it for $20.
Chahe, I have heard of certain sim cards that will unlocked the phone instantaneously. Maybe they are common in Lebanon. My other concern after reading Najib’s comment is that he used the term ‘jailbreaking’ instead of unlocking which completely different.
Did you get the phone for the subsidized contract price or the full price if may ask? I am wondering because they tend to be particular and require US credit cards to allow the purchase, especially at the subsidized price.
Hi Ziad, Najib paid full price for the iphone (599 +tax). Initially i wanted to get one myself, but i really dont want to go through the hassle of jailbreaking / unlocking, so ill just stick to the phone i have.
Thanks Chahe for sharing that info. One additional word of caution is that iPhones shipped to Saudi are unlocked however I heard that they have intentionally removed the ‘face time’ feature due to cultural concerns. I don’t know if there is a hack for that as well. Enjoy your trip, and please keep us posted! 🙂
Mobily in KSA offer the iphone for 720$. although they say it’s locked to mobily customers, it’s not true apparently, it works with any sim. as for face time, u cant use it if you live in Lebanon, so what’s the point
Oh wait! how come you were able to blog while you are in the US? It seems they do have internet over there!
hahah DEvin !!! good one !!!
btw i hope u r enjoying the highspeed connection, the junk food poison and everything else the american life has to offer 😛
