Removing the beer ads in Tripoli may be legally correct, but I think Tripoli’s mayor should have other priorities on his agenda that are way more important than removing alcohol billboards. Here are some of them:
1- Remove all Jihadists and Qaeda-like flags from the city.
2- Fight child labor specially in the poor areas.
3- Remove all banners and flyers that harm the image of Tripoli as the city of peace and co-existence.
4- Improve the living conditions of local residents and refugees inside the city.
5- Fight poverty, improve education and help needy families.
6- Promote tourism in Tripoli.
7- Kick off more initiatives to fight pollution and preserve the environment in Tripoli.
8- Rehabilitate historic and classified structures and help preserve the city’s cultural heritage.
9- Improve road conditions inside the city and fight traffic congestion.
10- Fix the garbage collection problem to avoid more dumping sites.
And the list goes on and on …
The islamization of Lebanon is eminent.
Your Eminence..
it’s imminent 😛
run for your lives
Fadi, you just need to relax a bit. Islam is not the boogyman out to get you. You should worry about IS though, they have no mercy and want more land to expand there caliphate. Just remember there is good and bad people everywhere. Didn’t your mom ever tell you, not all your fingers are the same? 🙂
but they are fingers of the same hand
Islam is threatening the civil freedoms of non Muslims and is not tolerant of other’s rights to drink/serve alcohol or live as they please . One example is people who in the name of Islam ,bomb/terrorize the lives of those seen eating during the months of Ramadan. It would not be just to pretend that Islam is not relative to the issues at hand. If these matters and many others can truly be separated from Islam, than the point about Islam not being the real issue is valid.
Everyone has the right to believe and live as they want, including Muslims and non Muslims alike. The problem with Islam is that it does not believe or tolerate the right of others outside it’s faith to live freely in a Muslim Dominant society, unless all adhere by Strict Muslim law, the ultimate goal being Sharia. If this was not the case, please count the number of countries with Islamic governments that allow the same freedoms and liberties for all its citizens, regardless of religious identity, as you find in Europe or the west.
To be tolerant of one religious group does not mean one should allow that religious group to force it’s beliefs or agenda on non believers. Tolerance is a two way street.
Fadi, you are no expert or scholar in Islam, and it is obvious you have islamophobia. You may have had bad experiences with Muslims, but I assure you there is good and bad in every religion. Don’t judge Islam by Muslims, judge it by its book, in this case Quran. I wish you well my brother in humanity.
I am apologize that you took offense, there’s good and bad in humanity- we can agree to also disagree, understanding Islam and factual speaking is not Islamaphobia- that term is used for anyone who dares question Islam and will not deter me or others from criticizing injustice to humanity by done by religion, regardless of the the name of the religion. Peace to you.
