“Chou Sar?” is a movie directed by De Gaulle Eid depicting the massacre of his family that he witnessed during the civil war in his hometown in Edbel, North of Lebanon back in 1980.
The movie was banned by the ISF for inciting sectarianism.
I guess we can add that movie to the list of movies and shows banned in Lebanon. I think it is the first Lebanese movie to be banned.
Synopsis
On December 9, 1980, De Gaulle Eid’s parents,
youngest sister and eleven other members of
his family were massacred in Edbel, Northern
Lebanon.
A few years later, having taken refuge in Beirut,
he leaves Lebanon for France and settles
in Corsica.
But he has many unanswered questions, questions
that torment almost every Lebanese family
today. Those questions prompt him to return
to his native village, where the neighbours
who slaughtered his family still live peacefully
today, protected by a general amnesty agreement
in 1993, erasing all crimes perpetrated
during the Lebanese civil war.
Shou Sar? is the story of that return journey.
Anyone knows what happened there? Who killed who?
forgot to put the source: http://www.qattanfoundation.org/pdf/29032010_1.pdf
Eliedh,
I think it was leftists and palestinians ( pro-syrian groups) who assassinated Christians in the Northern villages like Qa3 and others.
according to http://www.lebanese-forces.org/forum/showthread.php?6986-28-6-1978-Ka3-Massacre.&s=6ff911afc757b0af0b878deea74a72e1 the ka3 massacre happened in 78 so they might not be the same killers. I have a book at home with the timeline of the war, I’ll try to see if it’s mentioned in it.
Can Lebanese stop making movies about the war and start making original movies? Seriously, how many more movies about the war could be made?
Actually I think it’s the 2nd one, the first is “Help” which was banned in March last year.

Nopes this is definitly not the 2nd one only. There’s this movie about the little boy who survives a blast that kills all his family.
It is called Zozo if am not mistaken.
Help was not banned by the way. It was broadcasted at first then stopped cause the actress in the movie was related to some politician or something.
I have it home but never seen it yet.
apparently help was terrible but i admit the posters and the “ban” made me very curious to see it anyways… yalla najib maybe i’ll have to steal that dvd from you too 😛
(btw, i do still have your other dvds and will return them to you next time i’m in leb! i promise :))
