I downloaded the Lebanese Car Plate directory app for the iPad that Najib was talking about in his previous post. It is very accurate. The app is pretty simple to use, all you need is WiFi access. Just input the license plate number and the letter and you’ll get the following information:
– Name of the owner
– Car make and model
– Owners address (a bit inaccurate in some cases)
The government should not allow this much information to be available to the public! It is a matter of public safety. I don’t want people to know where I live just by knowing my license plate!
This is a total disgrace – you have the right to sue the ministry that is supposed to look after this information.
Fraudsters can easily take advantage of this.
I am not surprised with this nomad behaviour – you are supposed to make sure Technology works with you and not against you.
I also haven’t mentioned the terrorists that blow up cars …. what an easy tool to see who owns what! Ziad Baroud should be ashamed!
Now Baroud is saying on his facebook page that employees of banks might have leaked this information as banks have access to this data for mechanique purposes…Anyways it is about time in Lebanon that we should have laws that can deal not only with information security but Laws that handle leaked information…For example: since this confidential information is leaked; a law should be devised to ban accessing, selling or dealing with this data in anyway…any person/company/ entity posting, selling or dealing with this data should be fined and jailed. Any person that can be proven to have access this kind of data should be fined an jailed…you might not like those measures and those measures might not be very effective but we need to start somewhere and with the internet and the dissemination of confidential information is very easy…
@Devin, wat’s Ziad Baroud’s official facebook page? there are so many of them!
cheers
Also can’t believe no1 has done anything about this, the company’s contact details are on their website. Also i thought Apple has a pretty lengthy process about accepting any apps!
I don’t know what is his official page, something showed up in facebook feed linking to a Ziad Baroud page…I never knew he has many pages…the page might not be an official one
It still available for iPhone, because shes not on iTunes.
Thanks for your reply.
