I don’t know how some of our politicians or officials manage to sleep at night while manipulating us like puppets on a daily basis. Every week, we have to rush to fill our tanks because Mr.Gebran Bassil won’t sign new prices until the gas prices drop by 3000 LL and Ms. Raya el Hassan wants a 5000 LL drop but cannot do anything before the government (which one?) meets and then have the decree signed by the president of the republic.
To annoy us even further, the gas stations refuse to operate if the prices are not fixed or adjusted because they are buying gas at a more expensive price every week. Most people are no longer concerned with the peaking gas prices, but rather whether they can fill up gas to get to work or not.
In the middle of all this, I wonder how every one of those politicians will have enough gas for his 20+ cars convoy.
“people are no longer concerned with the peaking gas prices, but rather whether they can fill up gas to get to work or not”
Well that is the aim of our dear politicians!
The funny thing they fought for weeks about dropping prices and no one did anything.. and now i was just reading this:
“”ال.بي.سي.”: علم ان زيادة 300 ليرة التي تطالب بها الشركات المستوردة للنÙØ· سترتÙع الى 1500 Ùˆ1600 ليرة خلال الاسبوعين المقبلين”
so i guess no more hope of price drop :S
Thing is Joe the drop was going to be on the tax we pay to the government, not on the normal increase of gas prices but since gas prices are increasing significantly they will wait for them to reach a certain level and then drop them to whatever they are now.
Maskhara ya3ne.
Ya I know, as you said since the gas prices are rising globally especially after whats going on in Libya, i doubt that they will go thru with any kind of price drop even on taxes
so we can safely assume we will be paying 40,000 LL very soon
Welcome to Lebanon!
Gebran cannot sign. It’s the Ministry of Finance who should. All in all it’s a gov crisis. Ahlen 😀
Lets all take our childhood bikes and go out lool
@Rhéa when its about increasing the fuel price all know how to sign but when it is about decreasing the prices, they start tossing the issue around like a hot potato !
Rhea,
It is Gebran who signs the new pricings everyweek and it is him right now holding back the gas from gas stations.
The price drop which is from the tax that the government takes is signed by Raya el Hassan and agreed on in the government.
“In the middle of all this, I wonder how every one of those politicians will have enough gas for his 20+ cars convoy.” When they realize there’s not enough gas for their 20+ convoy, THAT’s when the problems will be fixed.
Najib, both are wrong in what they’re doing. Stations owners are holding the gas 🙂 It wasn’t a ministerial decision. It’s an alternative measure taken by owners to pressure the 2 ministers.
@Sareen True ! But prestige doesn’t quite rhyme with fixing problems and descreasing oil prices 🙂 :p
