PS: In case the original link to Hiba’s performance is broken, here’s another one. [Hiba Tawaji At The Voice France]
When I first heard that Hiba Tawaji was participating in the Voice France, I was also surprised and did post that she doesn’t need to go to such a talent show with random judges to prove herself, but that I will be supporting her if she does. Hiba sees the Voice as an opportunity for her to prove herself in Europe and worldwide and she might be right. She wants to be there and we should support her not bash her now that she’s competing against other talents, and trust me not all of them are amateurs. (Check Battista Acquaviva for example).
Keep in mind that while Hiba is known in Lebanon and few Arab countries, most people outside have no idea who the hell that girl is. The worldwide exposure and acclaim she got from these few minutes on-stage in France is more than she could have ever achieved maybe and this is a big deal for every artist or singer. Moreover, I am pretty sure she’s not the first professional to compete in the Voice; After all, it’s a win-win situation for TF1 who’s getting viewers from around the world now and for the candidate who’s gaining exposure to new markets.

Seems to me like a simple case of her having a poor second-rate agent… I still don’t see it, her on that show, after four albums (as I heard) and multiple concerts… she completed the journey most participants are about to embark on… Hiba is awesome, but that’s not the course she should have chosen…
Well I do agree with you that she could have chosen another path but if that’s what she wants we need to respect that. Remember it’s not very easy for Arab artists to foreign exposure that easily and the Voice is a “decent” way to do it.
Well, very interesting…It is a triumph for Hiba to step outside of an inflated Lebanese pedestal and recognize that growth will require risk ( reputation, failure, embarrassment, …). She has signaled the world that she wants to grow bigger than the Arabic market and willing to do anything to get there including taking risk. This is very humbling move from Hiba and everybody should stop creating exuses not act on a goal and move on, nothing is beneath anybody until they achieve their absolute goals with disregard to anybody else opinion…I am not a music critic nor did I hear Hiba’s songs previously but she has a great attitude that must be praised not attacked
Marwan is right. It’s a win win for TF1 and Hiba but what about aspiring talents who never got close to what hiba has already achieved a long time ago (even if not on an international scale). That’s a lose lose for them :/
People who really went as far as the biggest names in lebanese music didn’t need to do it through a televised show.
The way i c it, from an artistic and musical point of view, i dnt think dats totally wrong or inappropriate from Hiba to sing and participate in the voice , despite the fact that she is already doing very well in the musical field and had made several albums and performed on imp stages. U c, artists dream big and aim high, and obviously she adores western style music so its a ge
Sry duno wat went wrong but anw, i was saying its a great opportunity for her and there’s nthng wrong with it especially if she doesnt win…its not a shame at all….knowing that like najib and hiba said, some of the talents are not amateurs at all
