Qifa Nabki argues that it was an insulting tweet as Saad Hariri referred to Mandela as a rare piece of brown gold. I do agree and don’t see why he (or his PR guy) had to mention “brown” or any color in his tweet.
Here’s the tweet in English:
“Mandela nearly reached the age of a hundred, and remained until the last minute of his life a rare piece of brown gold glittering over humanity, presenting live examples of the values of forgiveness, reconciliation, the recognition of the other”
because Saudis are the most racists of all, and slavey still exist in KSA!
I don’t think it’s very wise to mention “brown” in a tweet commemorating a man who spent his whole life fighting against discrimination based on the color of the skin. By saying that, Hariri sapped everything Mandela fought for!!!
I guess an equivalent commemoration of his father Rafik Hariri would be: “He was a rare kind of billionaire presenting an example for the Lebanese to love each other..etc”
It is technically true, but adding the word “billionaire” is irrelevant and flies in the face of the spirit of the eulogy..
shedoolna halkon netfe…insulting w racist w etc.
