Margherita is a pizzeria located in the middle of Gemmayze. Since it’s close to where I work, I eat there with some colleagues on a regular basis. I’ve tried enough pizza places in restaurant and I have to admit the pizzas in this place are amazing! I usually order a Pizza Diavola, which comes with tomato sauce, cheese, and spicy salami. It’s sooooooo good! I always start by eating really really fast, but slow down when I get to the final two pieces and secretly wish that one of my colleagues won’t be able to finish his / her food so that I can have some 🙂 lame, i know.
One cool thing about this restaurant is the fact that they give you the opportunity to eat for free. The waiter asks you to pick a number between 1 & 90. He then mixes a container (see below) and pulls out a number, if you guessed correctly, the bill is on the house.
I had dinner the other night with a friend and for whatever reason, he picked the number 65 in the end, and we ate for free!
I asked the waiter what number was most commonly picked, he said guys usually go for 69, girls are more random. I then figured out why he chose 65… Initially he wanted to say 69, but switched to 65 in half sentence
Positives:
– Great food
– Opportunity to eat for free
– Location, right in the middle of Gemmayze
Negatives:
– The place is a bit tight
– Does not accept reservations
– Smokey as hell! While you are eating your food, people from other tables, which happen to be 10 centimeters away, start blowing smoke in your face
– You kinda smell like an oven / ashtray when you leave the place
They recently updated their menus and have a couple of blank pages for customers to leave comments.
Does it deliver at least? Cause I don’t think I will ever go if there’s that much smoking.
I think it opened in Jounieh by the way but am not sure they are the same place.
Funny how the 1% free food opportunity made the list 😀
Better pizza down the street at Aliacci and/or Matarello
just sayin’
i liked olio when i tried it.
anyway, being a tight place with so much smoke is a killer for me. thanks for the warning, Chahe!
Well my friend guessed the correct number. They brought him a 0$ bill to obtain his contact information
I like all the pizzas in Lebanon including the cheap ass ones from Frulatte in Jeita. It’s like cheap Lebanese burgers, for some reason they’re all good.
Frulatte is cheap? min wen la wen?
Frulatte Pizzas by the way are among the best I ‘ve tasted but he has to do something about his seats and tables. They suck.
dude Frulatte is pizza out of a can. No fresh ingredients or anything which is why their pizzas cost like 10,000 and Napolitana like 18,000
I got 2 Pizzas from Frulatte like a month ago. They were for 35,000 LL or a bit more. Frulatte is everything but cheap. Even the cocktails there are insanly expensive and he did the pizza right in front of me, It’s pretty much the same way its done else where.
they have 2 sizes, normal and large. normal is enough for one person, large for two. You probably ordered the large which I think is maybe around 16,000LL. From all the restaurants their pizza’s are the cheapest I’ve had in Lebanon.
The pizzas use canned ingredients, nothing fresh. Check out the pile of cans all around him. Interesting fact, Nat used to be a waitress there 🙂
Cocktails I don’t know the prices of since I just drink beer but my guy in Maryousef is the cheapest at LL2,500 for a large cocktail.
The Pizza’s at Eatalian were pretty good. i like the Prosciutto one…great stuff..
Napolitana is good but not the best, and the good thing about them is that they are pretty consistent, at least in my experience, and Napolitana’s staff have proved great in 3 different branches, i have a baby daughter, it get tricky and demanding and they do it with smiles and laughs all the way…
I like Frulatti’s but last time i was there a year or so ago i found them a bit lacking…
and i second friskies on the smoking thing… seriously food and smoke don’t mix, even when i was a 3 pack chain smoker, i took a break before food and only lit up once out of the place…now i like to pick fights with smokers, and the more obnoxious they are the funner… (lek tfiya a7san ma itfilak yeha ana!)
Thanks for the feedback ,jounieh’s location will open in September ,it will be a non smoking night tomorrow in margherita gemmaizeh if interested to try the place smoke free .
and sorry we do not deliver but we offer our pizza to go ,feel free to call and order on 01 571572 .
I love this restaurant. Such a cozy place to take your girlfriend and have a very calm and delicious dinner. In fact, I am going in an hour with some friends to celebrate my cousin’s birthday. Margherita all the way
