While having dinner at Napoletana in ABC Dbayyeh, a guy walked in wearing the Swastika symbol on his tshirt. If i were the manager, i would have definitly kicked him out of the restaurant. Surprisingly, he turned out to be friends with the manager who sat with him for a short while.
Ignorance is indeed a virtue.
Today, during the parade for Germany’s victory in Hamra street, there were 2 Swastika flags among the other German ones, and nobody seemed to mind them… what a shame
I think this is a bit racist to kick him out of the restaurant just because he’s wearing this “Swastika symbol” on his t-shirt!!!!!!!
Definition of racism: “the prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races ”
How is it racism to kick this guy out of the restaurant? Are swastika t-shirt wearers a race?
Your comment is really ironic considering Nazis were the most racist people ever…
Funny thing is, he’s wearing a t-shirt with the Swastika symbol and jeans with ‘U.S’ on them. Which side is he on? lol
He would be happy to know that Nazis considered his likes as sub humans.
so now the jewish legend is gona influence our fashion in lebanon aswell…
before u worry abt a swastika and a “holocoust” that supposedly took place more than 70 yrs ago how abt u consider the starbucks network that u probably hit atleast twice a week and the genocide its currently funding…
and regarding nazis and racism..maybe its true but before you go about repeating Israel’s rederick
do ur own research and get ur facts straight…patriotism is always mistaken for racism (anti-semitism) when it involves jews
That “supposedly” took place? Starbucks and genocide funding?
Wow, you really need to get YOUR facts straight.
Oh Mike that has never occured to you..
anyway my point is that instead of worrying about a genocide that supposedly took place some 7 decades ago thousands of miles away from here…let’s try to focus on what happening right now somewhere so close to home (hope that rings a bell)
or is this part of ur idea of promoting lebanon as a country more open to western culture and beliefs making it illegal or atleast distasteful to even question the jewish myth…
Are you Ahmadinajad disguised in a girl?
YOU insist on saying supposedly??
Where did all those millions of jews evaporate? desert storm?
And when i thought i was posting about a stupid nazi, turns out we have a more ignorant person commenting here.
r u an expert on european jews demographics …I’m not claiming I am
but a very simple question for u: Do u have any idea how many researchers were prosecuted for trying to dig into that era and clarify a number of issues pertaining to that very simple thing..
Have u heard of a 70 year old Ernst Zunndel a german revisionist who was imprisoned for 7 years for merely questioning the exact 6 million number and the method in which the killings happened…
If zionists were so sure of their Hollywood fairytale(spielberg’s schindler’s list and the likes) y wouldn’t they let historians do their job…wouldnt this only make their story all the more credible particularly to cynical people like myself (and trust me we are a lot)
Anyway I might be ignorant on a lot of issues but obviously i know much more than u do on this one
That would be the end of it for me here…it’s enough for me to know that I made you guys atleast pause and wonder…emmmm
PS: in all my previous posts i was using jews instead of Zionists and Israelis. I apologize for that…I’m extremely moved by the renovation of the synagogue in Wadi Abu Jamil..I think the 100 or so jews still living in lebanon and jews in other places in the region deserve our upmost admiration and respect for having loyalty to their country rather than a political religious movement and deciding not to go to a stolen land despite the prosecution they endured.
I am not claiming i am too, but only an idiot and a racist would assume a genocide seen on tvs all over the world did not happen. I dont care how many died, 1 million or 6 million does not make much of a difference u know, its still a genocide.
I dont even wanna bother get into such a debate to be honest and Zionists are also jews in case u missed it and most jews of the world support Israel, so there’s no much difference even though some think there is.
You are claiming the genocide “supposedly” happened, as in could have not happened. That is racism not history verification.
I didnt want this to dwell further on this..but I dnt want u to think I dnt have answers for you..eventhough I dnt claim I have all the answers
But seeing piles of dead people on tv after a world war that claimed the lives of more than 80 million doesn’t prove that those bodies belonged exclusively to jews or that they were killed in gas chambers, used as human guinea pigs or that soup was made of their flesh!
I’m not denying that massacres did take place but they did on all fronts..and against all sorts of people..ethnic germans being one
As for ur zionist/ jew point:
not all zionists are jews and most defenitely not all jews are zionists and I was reffering to the latter no matter how insignificant u think they are..actually that only makes them all the more respected.
but anyway i dnt want to turn this into a typical internal Lebanese debate…i couldn’t care less abt ur feelings towards the “democracy” that lies on our southern border.
Sara, Ernst Zündel is the guy you’re using as an example here as a historian?
Sounds more like a loony than a historian.
Wikipedia is your source of information:)
Anyway what I think of him is irrelevant …My point is that people do serious time in jail for just questioning some details abt the holocaust…how logical is that in a democratic europe..where there’s freedom of speech and u can mock and criticize any authority and religion..it just proves to us how far zionists have gone to make sure their fairytale is safely protected from any possible alteration..
so they can keep getting away with anything without having anyone point a finger at them because poor them they’re still recovering from the greatest tragedy of all time…
The fact is that they have abused the memory of their ancestors, they’ve built a country off of their suffering(which im not denying did take place jst not exactly they way they want us to think), they’ve made an industry out of the “holocaust”, and they did it all just superbly!! Hats off!
You are missing one important point. Holocaust did happen yet you keep on presuming it did not. 6 millions or 10,000 is still considered a lot of dead people. No one is here to defend Israel, but to deny the Holocaust is truly racist and idiotic.
Zionists keep getting away simply because most Arab leaders are stupid and dependant and even worse allies of Israel.
I dnt deny the death but i just wont tolerate this fuss abt it now..decades later and here half across the world from where it happened.. afterall many ethnicities suffered losses and genocides..I dnt c anybody going after the turks for their Armenian genocide even though they were never compensated (as opposed to jews)…or the russians for the german women or the japanese for the atrocities they committed against the us army…these were all so tragic and extremely barbaric..but all we talk abt now is the “Holocaust”..we’re not even allowed to use the term to refer to any other similar event..
Trust me I’ve researched this long and hard and there’s a lot of evidence that proves that though there were tragic losses (jews and other) there was no such a thing as a plan to systematically annihilate europe Jewry by the nazi’s
The loss of lives (jews and other) was a tragic consequence of war
I cant agree with u more on ur other point..however the international community doesn’t need anyone (arab leaders or other) to condemn the doing of Israel…but it cant do so..because Isreal has suffered greatly on the hands of europeans and now europe has got to pay the price by turning a blind eye to Isreal’s current genocide.
Sara: FYI the Armenians have been DEMANDING the world to acknowledge the Armenian genocide and that took place 95 years ago. This has been a controversial topic in the EU and the US with Turkey and Armenia.
I’m not going to join you guys in your discussion of the holocaust and on what’s good or evil but I will go back to the actual topic on hand here: Swastikas in Lebanon!
The amount of cars I saw during this entire world cup tournament that have the German flag along with the Sawstikas is disturbing! Germany today does not represent Nazi’s hence merely have swastikas to cheer the German team is totally ignorant!!
The Germans themselves don’t appreciate it and I remember reading somewhere that the German Embassy in Beirut complained to the foreign embassy about it!
Nazis were racists and I don’t know why anyone would question that. Comparing Nazis and Starbucks is a complete different topic.
My advice to Sara is keep reading. It will eventually do you some good.
Rita..yes I am aware of the armenian case but what do u mean 95years ??? as opposed to 70??..really does that make it an illogical comparison to u..let me guess u’re blonde right!
How many lebanese people u know have heard of the armenian genocide as opposed to the holocaust..and a question that comes along with this one is how many armenian lebanese do we have as opposed to jewish lebanese?? Do u get the irony or is it too complicated..
Moreover how were the armenians compensated..we know Zionists built a whole country from reparations they got from germany…no other victims of any genocide got anywhere near that
Germany’s feelings towards swastikas are their own business.. what the post-war german government was forced to believe and make believe shouldn’t concern us…for Heaven’s sake we cant even disarm those lunatics that almost kill each other celebrating after each WC game..u want us now to worry about the swastikas ill try to remember that next time we see an isreaeli flag in germany and ill complain to the german foreign ministry abt it..because to me that is the real symbol of racism and terror.
As for the relation between nazis and starbuck hun, what ive been trying to say is that rather than worrying abt this poor guy’s tshirt (who I bet u doesn’t know what the hell the symbol stands for) why don’t u worry abt the money u spent at starbucks and ur contribution to the funding of isreali settlements on palestinian lands and to the Isreali war machine because sweety, that is the genocide that concerns me as a Lebanese, an Arab or just simply any citizen of humanity living in 2010 not 1939!!! This genocide that is taking place right now in front of the eyes of the whole world, amid it’s shameful silence.
Rita, ill take ur advice and go back to my reading cuz I sure can use some enlightment after this major dose of lebanese utter ignorance!
U r starting to remind me of that other Sarah who thought i stole her Bonjus post. Are you guys related or something?
Anyway, just to emphasize on the ignorance of your posts, when you boycott Starbucks or McDonalds or Levis or or or, you are hurting Lebanese and not Israelis!!!
Try take some Economics 101 class and History 101 and Wake the Hell up 101 before debating in such manners.
haha this is funny,
come on you guys, swastikas in Lebanon has become a major issue? Don’t you know how Lebanese think? They just want to feel “cool” or provocative. Im sorry but I really don’t care if one idiot, (who is with Germany God knows why, most of the people following countries in the World cup have nothing to do with them but okay), is wearing a Nazi symbol on his shirt, or has a Nazi banner.
I am sure, but pleaaasee correct me if I am wrong, we have much BIGGER issues here.
And no, I am not talking about Israel, and Jews etc, because really, let the Palestinians deal with their shit.
I am talking about how SHITTY this country has become. And how HYPOCRITE we are, thinking that Lebanon is the greatest place on earth, when we can’t go one single day with complaining about something.
Wake up. This country needs so much work. And if we are going to keep worrying about stupid things such as this, or fill ourselves constantly with hate towards Israel, we will all be out of Lebanon pretty soon.
So instead of spending your days, researching about jews, and genocides, and Israel, and Starbucks…sit down and think how YOU can benefit this country which is currently in a shit hole.
It’s not simply about reading, but you have to comprehend what it is you are reading.
Let me start clarifying:
When I mentioned the Armenians it’s because you had stated ” dnt c anybody going after the turks for their Armenian genocide even though they were never compensated” What I was explaining to you is that the Armenian case is not closed. They STILL are trying to get the world acknowledge the genocide yet alone receive compensation. The jews got their compensation, I am not arguing that point, nor am I arguing the point on how it is that the world are more aware on the holocaust in contract to the Armenian genocide nor was I arguing on 95 vs 70 years.
In regards to my hair color, no am not blonde, but I’ve been considering going blonde for a while now, what do you think? Should I give it a go? 🙂
In regards to where I spend my money, well that is more of my business. I make my money though my own hard work, and I get to enjoy it as I wish.
I have a question for you though, who owns Starbucks in Lebanon or anywhere else in this region for that matter? Are they Jews? Americans? No “hun”. Starbucks is owned by a Kuwaiti company, whose head office is full of employees of different nationalities, and plenty of Lebanese. The money he makes goes back into Starbucks: marketing, salaries, rent, renovations, expansions, etc. The profit goes back to this Kuwaiti company. Starbucks headquarters in the US simply received an international franchisee fee. Now, if you don’t believe that, than I suggest you boycott all the retail outlets this Kuwaiti company does have and not just Starbucks. If you want a list of ALL the brands (I believe there are over 60) then go to their website where all the brands are listed. Check out the number of outlets that he does have available as well. Then think, think very carefully, that if you and everyone else does boycott these brands, how many people will you leave unemployed? How many houses will you shut down?
You go ahead and boycott them, I on the other hand will go do some shopping when am done writing this comment.
Back to the Swastikas… I am glad that you and I have agreed on one point, which is the fact that guy wearing the tshirt most probably does not know what it represents. As I mentioned in the earlier comment, i believe that the majority of people who were raising swastika flags to cheer the German team also most probably did not know what it represents, and hence that is where my issue is.
As for your comment about the Israeli flag “hun”, I can fight several causes simultaneously. Just because I’m anti-nazi, does not mean I am pro-Israel, or that I ignore our own Lebanese causes… political, environment, and heritage causes. I don’t blame you for not knowing that though, since you don’t know me, hence you don’t know what my ideals are.
You may go ahead and continue to believe that I am ignorant, and I shall look forward to your response, you see “hun” I really like to hear/read what other have to say, to enlighten me with their perspectives, as I too would like to enlighten them with my own perspective on things. If we disagree, then so be it, at least we are attempting to communicate.
Just found this article on the topic :
Ana I agree with rita 🙂
Back in 87 or 88 when I was a kid living in lebanon. I was living in ashrafie. My school was a small one..ugly and the color of it was baby blue. It was between a very tall building (above 20 stories) that was not yet finnished and a road that led to a huge stair down to town. If anyone here knows the name of it i would be happy if you told me.
Anyway..the second floor of this school was litle bit strange. I was about 7 years old. Even as a child… i knew it was a litle bit off.
This floor was nothing like the rest of the school. There were a bunch of men up there. Lebanese guys hanging out. They had a bench press for working out. Thats all i can remember in a visual sence off memory. I spent a lot of time there… after school. Hanging out with the grown ups. I had a good time but dont remember much. But i do remeber this. All them where NEONAZI. I mean there where all shaved heads and tatooed up to there necks. There bodies were all covered with Nazi tatoos. I remeber this special guy who i like the most. He had a big tatoo of the swastika that covered his entire back. I remeber this because they always walked aroud with no shirts. For me as a child… I didnt understand what the swastika was.
later that year moved to sweden. As i grew up i understood what kind of people they were. I find this very strange. I have fought with swedish nazi all of my youth years. I am an african.. born in lebanon.
Somehow (maybe because i was only a kid) the lebanese nazis liked me. Or do the lebanese nazis have some other agenda? Its wrong of me to say they were lebanese. I do not know if they were lebanese. They spoke arabic. Thats all i should say.
