Spotted near Rimal Beach Resort in Jounieh. Anyone happens to know why is our sea red?
I say we have three plausible answers:
– A dolphin hunt like the one that occurs in Denmark every year. [Link]
– We are coloring our sea to make our own “red sea” and attract more tourists.
– This is a mixture of dead cows, oil and toxic liquid leaks, garbage and few dead bodies.
Thanks Choogz
We get those nearly every week next to Rimal, the colors sometimes change, I think it’s some colorant from one of the factories in the Zouk area…
Lucky you!
If the Colors change then it’s definitely the Zouk factories.. if not it might be a sort of animal that secretes this color ink in the water. i remember we used to see a lot of them on the rocks next to holiday beach, they were like snails that when we squeezed spurted this reddish purplish ink-like liquid… (ourjouwan i think the color is called in Arabic)…remember reading about it in my old history school books, the Phoenicians used it to color their clothe.
It is the migration of 2 million Atlantic Salmon to Lebanese shore for sight seeing as the tourism flounders… :p
It’s red tide: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_tide
loool that’s another guiness record 😉
ok najib!!! you definitly don’t want me spending my summer vacation in lebanon!!!! good god!!! could you do me a favor and find me a beach that is actually “swimmable”????????
nadine,
Ever been to Bora Bora? great beaches. heaven on earth.
Nadine, try some greek island or the aegan cost in turkey. U wouldn’t believe it’s the same sea that is on the Lebanese coast…
thanks jeff, yes i’ve been to bora bora beaches, i just hope they are still the same…
and Ronman, i agree with you, i’ve been to bodrum, it’s unbelievably beautiful; still have to go to greece though, never been there…
Hey I am not trying to keep away from Lebanon. It’s just that in some reasons we don’t take care of our beaches but we still have some awesome beaches ya nadine and awesome places to go as well.
nadine,
Heaven does not change. The best beaches and atmosphere on earth bar none!
‘Earth Bar’ 😉 you should trademark that Jeff before some Lebanese yuppy opens a pub using that names and runs it into the ground literrralllyy.
