The girl who posted a selfie with a terrible caption on Instagram earlier today got fired from Hotel Dieu de France, as posted by USJ on their official Twitter account. That was a really bad joke she made and she should apologize for it.
Nevertheless, I chose not to share her full name or picture because I don’t see a point in doing that and help destroy her career before it even starts. She got what she deserved at this point and I’m sure she regrets posting that picture by now.
This incident reminded of an NYTimes article on how “One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco’s Life“.

i think the public shamming of this girl and how viral it got shows that something is wrong with this society . If you really think this girl is killing babies all day, as she claims and she deserves to lose her job/get expelled due to social media pressure, you could argue strongly for that. But in my opinion i think its a failure in compassion. Is this girl the source of all chaos in Lebanon, is this girl of your biggest fears and worries when you leave your home. Is this what is really pissing you off.

HOWEVER this thing was blown out of proportions, the public shaming shouldn’t have taken place to begin with, ideally the whole thing should have been handled privately. Maybe just maybe the guy who snitched on her on twitter misjudged how far sharing something online could go, just like the intern in question. Or he knew what he was doing… either way people should be careful about what they post online.
It’s all about context come to think of it… the same lame tasteless “joke” she made wouldn’t have got a stand up comedian fired for saying… she happened to be a medic who publicly showed that she did not take her job seriously (even though that she might )
Is her career ruined? probably/hopefully not, the article I linked you is about a similar case on a global scale…

Once I asked my childhood friend who’s a doctor in a reputable hospital, whether him or his fellow doctors make fun of patients or circulate private info on patients.
His answer was: All the time. We’re people after all.
Karim, that’s crazy. when a caregiver writes (jokingly or not) about being able to kill babies, people don’t share the post with the intention to hurt her but with the intention to protect people from her, and maybe even protect her from herself. she has 14,000+ followers on her instagram account so her post was not meant to be “private”. ma3leish. a lot of people study something they don’t even end up working in and so maybe giving care and handling infants is not meant for her. the universe did her a favour, maybe. just maybe. and maybe she’s a criminal in disguise. nobody knows.
You know what will really be “killing babies”, the carcinogenics in the air that went up by 416 folds with the trash crisis. Which by the way will raise the amount chinldren who will develop cancer from 0.1 to 176 /million. About 700 children will develop cancer by this (only children). Bas into شعب مريض و منافق.
