Anyone who has visited Jeita Grotto is familiar with the site’s strict no-photography and no-disturbance policies, but apparently, these rules don’t apply to everyone. A pre-wedding celebration attended by roughly 50 guests reportedly took place inside the grotto, featuring loud music, dancing, and filming.
I wonder who authorized that. Was the Ministry of Tourism informed? How did the wedding planners manage to set all that up and go unnoticed?
Such an event could seriously endanger the grotto’s delicate ecosystem and jeopardize its UNESCO World Heritage aspirations. To think that just a few years ago, I shared what I believed were rare shots from inside the grotto — I never imagined it would one day be turned into a wedding venue.
Who authorized a wedding party to be held inside the Jeita Grotto? Tom Barrack is right: we’re not only a failed state, but one run by animalistic people who think they have the right to grant privileges in one of Lebanon’s most fragile heritage sites.pic.twitter.com/pwCCJ1I7AG
