ZWZ Supports Germany, Picture taken from ZWZ_Facebook
Update: Legally speaking, they are allowed to use such pictures but they are prone to lawsuits if the concerned parties find it insulting anyhow. This is what happened to Benetton’s ads back in November. [Link]
I like the posters but are they allowed to do that? Don’t you need permission to put photoshoped heads of states in your ads?
ZWZ Supports France, Picture taken from ZWZ_Facebook
yeah, they need as much permission as Benetton’s unhate campaign
This is Lebanon, not France, not Germany. Unless there’s some law stating you can’t use foreign politicians in an ad campaign in Lebanon, then there’s nothing to say about this series of ads. Its reasonably clear that the politicians photoshopped into the image don’t endorse ZwZ, so what’s the issue? I dislike ZwZ a lot, for their expensive food and their parking services, but this isn’t anything valid to criticize them over.
Heads of state do a job, either well or poorly and they are just people. Due to being in the public eye they get the honor of being parodied, mocked, etc…especially outside of their own country where their “reach” is weak or non-existent.
Guys,
I am not attacking ZWZ. I am just asking a question as usually anything related to the president in Lebanon or heads of state in the Arab countries is taken way too seriously or a red line.
i was at zwz facebook page and someone asked them that he wants a poster that support Italy so they replied to him that the Italian prime minister didn’t give them permission
that means that these people in the posters gave them permission
In the USA politicians are considered public figures, hence it is allowed to use them on tee-shirts, giveaway items, etc…even if they mock them. When Schwarzenegger was the Governor of California, there was a plethora of items labelled “Governator”, and nobody minded…On another hand, when Ryanair used Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife for an ad, they sued them successfully and obtained a symbolic fee.
I image Aoun also on the shoulders with orange shirt, supporting Holland (2 in 1)
I’m sorry but this is a terrible campaign.
