If you listened lately to Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa’s latest song “Young, Wild and Free” on Radio One, you’d notice it’s censored. (Listen to Video above)
Instead of hearing:
“So What we get drunk, So what we don’t sleep”
You hear:
“So What we get, So what we don’t sleep”
I thought at first it was “high” and not “drunk” but then I checked the lyrics. Added to that, “So what we don’t sleep” was originally “So what we smoke weed”.
I can understand censoring weed even though “Smoke one, roll one” are still there, but can anyone explain to me why aren’t we allowed to hear the term “drunk”?
PS: I assume the song is also censored on NRJ, LightFM & MixFM but I am not sure.

NRJ and MixFm only censor weed into sleep but drunk is still there
There are two version for this song, Explicit and Clean
So, actually radio’s choose to play clean version.
Tarek,
True but is “drunk” really such a bad word?
It’s not that “drunk” is a bad word, but I guess they don’t want teenagers in the US to be singing it?
All that means is the clean version doesn’t have any bad words, curse words, and stuff like that, whereas the explicit version, they do not edit the songs, it contains all the curse words, and stuff like that (:
And “weed” is a bad word? LOL
I always felt like Radio One censors more things than the other stations.
The “smoke weed” part is also censored in the US; not the word “drunk” though.
Although I just remembered that in the US, they sometimes censor the word “alcohol” in the song “Blame It” by Jamie Foxx! So I guess Lebanon is still good 😛
Really? any reason behind it?
No clue, but I guess it’s to not encourage alcohol or getting drunk for kids?
I live in the usa and the word alcohol is not censored on any song that i hear on the radio(” weed” is censored since its illegal)… maybe Lebanon being a musilm country, alcohol is forbidden 😉
Ouch.
It has nothing to do with religions!it just that the radio stations dont wana be known for encouraging getting drunk and high, specially that a large number of teenagers lsn to these radio stations!
hmm.. nothing to do with religion ?.. just like bombings of a restaurant in south Lebanon which served Alcohol had nothing to do with religion..
We don’t know for certain do we?
It’s ” F****ed ” not “drunk”, that’s why they censored . Dirty version
