Any idea who’s behind this drink?
Honestly, I would have picked Chamchoum power drink instead of Abou el Abed. After all, Abou el Abed is a lazy bum who tells funny jokes and sits all day smoking arguile.
Update: Apparently they are the same people behind Pampa. Thanks Joe!
well, im not sure if it is the PAMPA people behind it in lebanon.
but it seems that the drink is an international drink produced abroad
check the full research on my “abou l abed drink” post
http://hishamad.wordpress.com/2011/06/17/abou-l-abed/
and i think its called abou l abed for his sexual powers in his adventures 😛
Its made by the same company of Kazouza, Cedar’s premium… they also have Jalloul and some other drinks, but I guess its the same ad agency that did kazouza, abou el abed and pampa ads.
@Najib; yes I kinda agree with you about Chamchoum thing; however, Abu El Abed is not necessary a lazy dude. As per the origin of “Abu El Abed†character, he is young, street-smart, and funny dude from Basta district, and he is a strong guy who always carries a bamboo stick as symbol of fight readiness. Also, if you remember “Al Mouallima Wal Oustaz” Lebanese series on TL, Abu El Abed character reflects all the above and famous of his word “Batelâ€.
Now since Hisham highlighted some facts about the drink being a US trade mark, this needs more research and studies to understand why did they chose such name for the brand and who are their initial target market.
Love the idea !It contains the famous “chelech el zalou3” the sexual “booster”. Finally, we have a lebanese energy drink. I tried it and loved the taste 🙂
I have only tried the “original” flavor that comes in the green bottle. It tasted pretty darn good!
From personal experience (maybe due to a placebo effect, who knows?), I can also vouch for the “effect” of this drink thanks to its content of the famously touted “shilsh el zallou3”.
I agree with Farid’s post defending Abu El Abed’s “personality” too, especially as it is used on this drink bottle. Indeed:
1. The bottle advertises Abu El Abed as “Sheikh el Shabab”
2. He is winking (a bit of a sexual innuendo here).
3. The bottle says “himma wa nashat 3ala toul” = “Stamina and activity for a long time”
4. Abu El Abed indeed invokes the picture of a courageous “abaday” who walks around with a “khayzaraneh” ready to pick a fight.
Cute concept. Great product.
anyone know what is the name of the creator of this power drink or his mobile?
