Amidst the turbulence and chaos in the country, the municipality of Chekka, with the help of Arc en ciel, has decided to take an environmental leap and attempt to build a Christmas tree made of 120,000 recycled water bottles. The aim is to enter the Guinness World Book of Records for the largest tree of plastic bottles.

The current record is held by the region of Aguascalientes, Mexico, where around 120 public staff workers created in a span of seven weeks and Christmas tree rising around 28 meters high, using 98,000 plastic bottles.

This is not the first environmental tree in Lebanon. Last year, in El Bireh, Chouf, a tree was made using 1,250 bottles.

A nice initiative as long as they dispose of these bottles properly afterwards. Best of luck!
