If you happen to have old delivery menus from the most popular restaurants in Lebanon (Roadster, Crepaway etc..) you’ll immediately notice HUGE increases in price. I got my hands on an old Roadster menu a couple of days ago. Did you know that at one point in time the Caesar Salad with chicken used to cost 8,000LL?? Compared to 13,500 LL nowadays.
You can say that the price of raw material increased, rent is getting more expensive and all that crap, but we all know that the only thing that didn’t increase proportionally to the cost of living were salaries…. and the price of pizzas at Pizza Hut.
Back when I was in high school and university, I used to order many times a month from Pizza Hut. I remember that the price of a large pepperoni lovers pizza was ~20,000 LL
I ordered a large pizza last night. It now costs 10,000 LL and it was delivered in less than 20 minutes!
So while the price of food in this country has almost doubled in the past couple of years, the price of pizzas at Pizza Hut has been slashed by 50%. I did some research and found out that there are 2 Pizza Huts in Lebanon: one is a restaurant, the other a delivery center.
Pizzas ordered from PHD (Pizza Hut Delivery) are ~50% cheaper.
I’m quite sure that the major restaurants in Lebanon have separate kitchens to cater for delivery services. Shouldn’t there be a separate menu with different prices for delivery vs. eat-in?
When I was in university Pizza Hut had all you can eat and drink for LL10,000
Yeah I remember those all you can eat offers.
But Chahe, I’ve noticed PHD pizzas are not as tasty as Pizza hut older pizzas were, specially the bun; so maybe the drop in quality is what dropped the prices?
No, it’s good, so good that I ate the entire thing by myself
PHD pizzas suck compared to the Pizza Hut ones. Try the Pizza Hut in Jounieh and you’ll notice a huge difference.
That gives you an idea that what the other outlets are doing is increase their profit margins.
in theory places like Roadsters could soak up a bit of the price increase, but they usually don’t. ZwZ is a case in point. some items have increased by over 100% in price in less than 10 years. and salaries have not.
another thing i’d like to add to this comment is this: whenever restaurants increase their prices, they always blame the rising costs of diesel, vegetables, meat etc…but they never ever (as far as i have heard) tell you, that we felt that our employees were underpaid and we decided to offer them a better payment package…I’d gladly accept that argument, especially that many of those waiters (i used to be one of them) are massively underpaid…i don’t remember specific amounts of money per hour, but i remember that the most money (excluding tips) i have done in one long 8+ hour shift was a little over $15…ridiculous, oh and the tips weren’t that great even…
You JUST discovered PHD? tststs you call yourself a blogger! shame on you!
I always thought PHD was better than Pizza Hut.
But Dominos trumps all.
It;s true Chahe. Last time I went to PHD and I ordered 2 large pizzas and I paid around 20,000L.L only.
I was really shocked as it has been long time I didnt order from PHD and I expected to pay at least L.L35000 for the 2.
Dearest Chahe,
At Roadster diner we do have 2 different menus. One for dine in, and one for delivery. And it so happens that the prices are lower when it comes to delivery.
We hope to hear from you soon, despite the inflation 🙂

Roadster Diner,
Must say, I like the way you keep in touch with the Public, what is the price differential between eat in and delivery on your menu.
No offense, but i have a feeling you can still squeeze some fat out of it and everyone would win…
500 liras lower 🙂
Casper and Gambini’s as well has 2 different menus with 2 different price lists. for example a chicken fajita wrap is for 11750 when delivered while for dine in its price is 17000 or so.
5000 Liras difference?
Are you sure about that Nancy?
Dear Ronman,
Regarding Roadster diner,
It depends on the item you order. For example, Fries n’ Cheddar in store is 10,750 LL, while in delivery it is 9,000 LL. Rd burger quesadillas is 17,000 LL in store and 16,500 LL when delivered. The chicken slider is at 13,250 LL in store, and 11,750 LL when delivered.
It really depends on the item you order.
Have a great day,
Hady C,
Rd Team
You can also order whatever you want. There is NO minimum charge, and there is NO delivery charge.
Reminds me of a friend who ordered delivery one scoop of ice cream from Baskin Robbins
Wonder if you know…the 2000lira delivery charge for PHD…who gets that? the delivery guy or the company?
