Lebanon’s newly appointed information minister, TV star George Kordahi, called on the media in his first official statement to refrain from hosting politicians who claim that we will go to hell. He continued by asking those to let the government and calm down.

This statement was strongly condemned by many journalists and the Journalists for Freedom movement which issued the below statement:

٢- لا يا سيادة الإعلامي الوزير، لست أنت ولا أي مسؤول آخر يقرر عن وسائل الإعلام من تستضيف، وإذا كنت قد بدأت مهمتك على هذا النحو، فاعلم أنك وزير للإعلام في بلد الحريات فيه أقوى من الإملاءات الرعناء، كما في بلد يختلف عن النماذج التي تتمثل بها وتفخر.

Someone should remind Kordahi that this ministry should be abolished and that his job should be focused on getting rid of it, not promoting further censorship.
