This is how the 71 meters long tower is supposed to look like. Said Bitar, the architect behind this project, was apparently instructed to keep the tower’s height 1 meter lower than the nearby Mohammad Al-Amine mosque’s highest point. [Link]

i just opened the link and the article is in french. i just want to know what are the reasons for keeping the tower’s height 1 meter lower than the nearby Mohammad Al-Amine mosque’s highest point. so please if any one knows if its even mentioned what r the reasons just explain it briefly .
They don’t say why.
This can’t be right. Something is missing here… and who instructed him to keep it 1 meter lower? What authority exactly?
The article doesn’t say.
hey Najib, keep us updated if you found out later the reason behind this decision or who took it!
I’m sure there’s a perfectly good reason why it must be shorter.. like trying to avoid another civil war..
Fadi, if thats the reason than it should be the same height and not lower.
that may be true in essence, but the Lebanese political system is off balance
that s not accurate, employees in el dawayer el houkoumieh are at 80 to not say 90 and more of none christian, since Taef salahiyyet ra2iss el joumhourieh (supposed to be the highest authority in the country)decreased alot handing them to the prime minister and ministers …
Let’s not try to overreact here; this has probably nothing to do with religious issues, if the rumor is true.
I tried asking around but did not get any answers. If anyone is around the mosque and church, try looking at it as I don’t think there’s any difference.
The Church tower seems even longer.
