The artist they are interviewing is not really saying anything wrong. She’s for equal rights between men and women, defending gay rights, and promoting safe sex. She is not promoting sex, she wants Lebanese to get over the sex taboo. I am not saying I fully agree with her, but she is making few good points. In fact, for once I thought “A7mar bil Khat el 3areed” was actually sending out a useful message until they let this stupid woman come up and address the artist.
What does nudity have to do with pornography? How does wearing a condom necklace make you a prostitute or a sex promoter? I mean seriously where do they come up with those people?
One last thing, can we please stop comparing every artist or singer dressed in a funny way to Lady Gaga? Chou We2fit 3laya?
Wouldn’t her message be more effective if she dressed less provocatively? I don’t have anything against the way she’s dressed but she’s trying to get her message across to people who aren’t necessarily opened minded and they wont listen to someone who is dressed “differently”.
Patrick next time she’ll don her ninja outfit! Do Lebanese women dress any less “differently”?
She seemed a run of the mill singer trying to promote herself as well as acceptance of others…
Why take extremes? Is it either putting on a necklace made of condoms or going out in a full black garb? You have to take small steps before taking a leap, and she was discussing acceptance on a topic that is not widely accepted.
She could have indeed. The condom necklace is not needed but maybe sometimes you need to do that to get people’s attention.
But when you see the woman addressing her and asking her if she’d do porn, you realize it wouldn’t have mattered whether she wore a condom necklace or not.
What she’s trying to say is that she should have the right to dress however she wants to without any consequences, and that’s how it should be. Its her body and she should be allowed to do whatever she pleases.
She said it herself. she tried being normal but no one listened to her that’s why she had to try something “different”.
you made me watch “A7mar bil khatt il 3arid” after i promised myself not to, its still a stupid show as it use to be with HOT TOPICS but with the stupidest guests that have the same intellectual level of the host, with some exceptional guests illi biyinmasa7 fihon il arid, as u said Najib, im not complying with what pola is promoting, but shou dakhal lady gaga and pornography?
Lady Gaga is not that extreme.. shes a mirror of what many youths in the USA accept as normal behavior.
But in a country like Lebanon.. people may be scared to show support for what mainstream society considers abnormal behavior. But its takes people like this girl to push the envelope and show the Lebanese society that “different” can be normal if society can acknowledge its existence.
The Lebanese society is a handicapped society.
If a boy has sex before marriage with with a prostitute, it is being “rejjel”, and if a girl has sex before marriage, she is a whore. What a fucked up concept is this!
Both are wrong. First Lebanon has to stop importing prostitutes. I am sure the religious people have power over that as they have power over banning civil marriage. But seems they agree with and enjoy the prostitution.
And what is that questions by one of the guests? Here is a situation for her: if a mother is threatened to have her children butchered in front of her unless she strips, would she say no????
I think she is totally trying to be Lady Gaga- but she can’t be Lady Gaga haida el-fari2. But I’m not against her work- good for her.. She should sing bil 3arabi to get the message across though and I wish she was more daring- a condom necklace is barely noticeable unless she tells you it exists.
I saw a bit of this episode a few days ago- everyone in that room was a little extra about their position kicking each other out of Lebanon and being all ashamed of each other- 3aib! but Katia was of course the worst- mafi fihim bil mawdo3 at all. She was just attacking everyone.
I actually like her a lot; at least she’s not hypocrite nor frustrated.
she’s way better than the rest of the Lebanese female “artists”.
That lady that started questioning the artist highlights how close minded our society is. She automatically thinks that showing off some skin is pornography and that it is degrading. Her being so against the idea of female nudity, or any nudity for that matter is doing nothing but encouraging sexism.
I can’t believe how the lady asking the questions starting attacking her ! 2 years a ago the Kardashians held a campaign called “I’d rather go naked than wear Fur” they posed naked and I thought it was for an amazing Cause. But of course this is people of Lebanon we’re talking about .
Thank you for your support, I’m loving your blog! maybe ill send you a close up picture of my condom necklace 😉 and as for everyone here… Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect it just like I expect everyone to at least respect mine 🙂 but its really nice to see that most of you here are supporting change in a close minded society like ours!
Thank you again,
All the love
