Over 37,000 participated in the 2014 edition of the Beirut Marathon and the atmosphere was amazing just like every year. I took part in the 10k fun run and finished the race in 1 hour and 18 minutes which is a decent time but not what I am aiming for. My brother finished the race in 57 minutes and I am hoping to beat him next year. Here are some of the pictures I took…

Tens of female participants wore wedding dresses and ran the 10k to raise awareness on early and forced marriages in Lebanon. Here are some of the pictures that I found on Abaad's Facebook page. Haile Gebrselassie arrived to Beirut yesterday and performed a training run earlier today with this year's peace runners, but I don't think he will be running the Beirut Marathon tomorrow though. Gebrselassie is a true legend in the long-distance tracks and has won numerous Marathon races. Here's what he said to LBCI about the marathon and running for peace.
