There were few tweets today about an Iranian plane landing at Beirut’s airport without being on the flight schedule, prompting the head of the Airport Security Brigadier General Fadi Kfouri, to forbid it from disembarking and force its pilot to leave the Lebanese airspace.

While I was verifying the story, I came across a “Fact Check Lebanon” article on the NNA website, which clarified that the plane was on the flight schedule but didn’t inform us whether it was allowed to disembark or not. However, what caught my attention was that Lebanon’s National News Agency has a dedicated team to fact-checking news. Although there aren’t many stories in this section, it could have been recently launched, for all I know.

I like the initiative, though I would be interested to learn more about the team behind it, especially since it’s a government-owned news agency. It would be cool if they engaged more on Twitter and added community notes to counter false rumors and fake news circulating.

Check out the [stories] they covered so far.
