International Basketball Week is taking place from August 17 till August 20th in Abu Dhabi and Lebanon is one of six teams taking part in this week, in addition to the US team, Greece, Germany, Mexico & Egypt. Our national team was able to win their opening game against Egypt (79-64) but lost against Mexico 70-88. These friendlies will serve as preparation for Lebanon who is participating in the 2023 FIBA World Cup for the first time since 2010.
In addition to these strong performances, our team got a surprise visit from US Coach Steve Kerr, one of the most decorated NBA player and coach with five titles as a player and four as head coach of the Warriors. Kerr was born and raised in Beirut as he’s the son of AUB president Malcolm Hooper Kerr who got killed by gunmen in 1984.
