A woman from Lebanon brought zatar with her which is prohibited in Australia. Her son in law who has lived in Australia for 25 years is determined to bring the food whith him because it’s a typical Lebanon delicacy.
This guy REALLY wants his zaatar! [YouTube]
Thanks Thoraiya
can u blame him? imagine urself in his shoes being prevented from eating ur favourite food throught your life…
i guess if border security where to confiscate my burgers i would get upset
I prefer Jordanian or (Halabi) Zaatar over the Lebanese one. It tastes much better.
You can get kilos of Lebanese zaatar for a few dollars in Sydney (properly labelled for import) so I guess it was the principle he was arguing over! He is certainly not being denied his favourite food!
It’s not about being able to get some generic zaatar from the market, it’s about importing his specific zaatar. My wife is lebanese and she can tell the difference between store bought and the farmers market stuff from her village.
Its not the end of the world for this guy.. I am sure Lebanese markets must sell Zaatar that’s imported from Lebanon properly
uff annoying aerial security laws, i had to throw away my favourite shaving foam because of that 😉
btw the woman brought a whole dekkaneh along so she’s not that defendable
funny – I went through sydney airport and my aunt sent about a kilo of za3tar with me – wasn’t vacuum sealed or anything, just wrapped in a plastic bag, and taped shut.
The customs officer did an x-ray scan of my bag – and picked up what he thought was a kilo of marijuana. He called three other officers to witness opening my bag, as he though he’s making a big bust.
After he opened it up, and found it was only Za3tar, there was a bit of a look of disappointment on his face, and he let it through.
thank god they weren’t filming border security on that day!
isn’t it looking like taanayel les fermes old “teta latifa” add somehow?
guys did u see the comments on for this video on youtube…some people are just so rude and racist!
it’s fine it’s the internet…
Bringing a bag full of gifts, that is so me 🙂
have you noticed the bzourat package inside the zaatar bags?
it says fresh nuts from ma7maset Al Amira.
They went nuts over “FRESH NUTS” that is surely a label for another product
