A friend of mine told me today that he read somewhere in the news that Ziad Baroud’s Citroen C2V, or deux chevaux vapeur, (The one in the picture) failed the mecanique test due to its high Carbon rate.
Minister Baroud promised to fix the problem and retest it.
Thanks Houss!
its nice to see at least one politician abiding by the rules!
So this is his day to day car or what?
Well obviously not but he probably keeps it as a collection car.
Guys, the 2CV, despite it’s small engine, light body, and fuel and forget economy, is one of the dirtiest cars in the world. the 2 piston engine is the most rudimentary out there, and the lack of a catalytic converter makes things worse.
you will have to keep tinkering with the engine and dial the fuel mixture a bit lean with a higher idle rate to get near the dismal Lebanese emission standard that you need to pass the mechanique.
my old chevy passed the mecanique and it was burning a bit of oil, why? because they only check for CO2, as if it’s the only nasty tailpipe emission in existence. btw, I only drive that car as a last resort when my other cars are dead, but i like to keep it within legal limits.
Najib it’s not true the car is in citroeen warehouse from a year ago and it wasn’t running before, i will try to get pictures this week
