Minister of Information, Paul Morcos, has requested the Cabinet’s approval for the appointment of a new Board of Directors for Télé Liban, to be headed by esteemed journalist Bassam Abou Zeid. The new board, in addition to Abou Zeid, will include the following members:

– Mohammad Nemer Zakaria Mustafa
– Charbel Gerges Khalil
– Danny Tanious Haddad
– Lama Sadiq Al-Sabah
– Salman Zuhair Al-Rais
A
bou Zeid is widely regarded as one of Lebanon’s most esteemed and respected journalists and TV correspondents. He began his career at Radio Lebanon Libre (RLL) before transitioning to the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation (LBC) in the late 1980s, where he worked as a television correspondent and news presenter. He is currently the President of the Press Club.

While I have no doubt that Abou Zeid is the perfect choice to lead Lebanon’s national TV station, the real question remains: Does the government have the budget necessary to revive Télé Liban?
