I heard about this proposal a while ago and I believe it’s the best alternative we have until our electricity crisis is over. What I suggest is that the government encourages households to purchase solar panels as well in order to be able to provide electricity as many hours per day as possible.
BEIRUT: The Cabinet decided in its session Thursday to go ahead with plans to lease electricity-generating ships and has empowered a ministerial committee to study international bids for the project.
Lebanon currently produces less than 1,600 MW of electricity but the actual need of the country far exceeds 2,300 MW. [DailyStar]
It’s a good idea, why can go out also with similar ideas for traffic jam so they can rent ships to run it from Port JouniehMarina DbayehMarina Saint Georges.
And in further steps, we will have investors to run ships as restaurants and clubs for entertainment since the lebanese as creative in that.
In other words why don’t they move us to the sea since it is unbearable to live on land in this country
PS: Politicians to stay on land pleazzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Solar panels are just too expensive!
costs about 12 000$ for 5 Amp and u’ll need to change ur batteries every 5/6 years for about 2 500!
so Mazout is still a lot cheaper
Yup so is burning coal…Get into efficient and life extending energy dude!!…Oh I forget; the concept of retirement planning is death to Lebanese.
To put things in context, the three gorges dam in china produces 20’000 MW.

iThink, since we all know that our government is paralyzed and don’t care about such issues, they just care about what they call “Global strategic cases”, a social campaign with the cooperation of Solar systems dealer, to create awareness towards relaying on Clean energy production as well as creating some good deals for consumers.
The government role would just be for releasing all taxes on Solar Energy products in a way to reduce price. I just with having some dealers “2awedem” and not Mafias!
In fact, the “Government” just adopted a National Energy Efficiency Action Plan for 2011-2015 (4 days ago) that includes, among others, the “Promotion of Decentralized Power Generation by PV and Wind Applications in the Residential and Commercial Sectors” (PV stands for photo-voltaic)
