During a ceremony held in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron honored Lebanese-born French author Amin Maalouf with the National Order of Merit (Grand officier de l’Ordre national du Mérite) for his contributions to literature. Amin Maalouf’s works have been translated into over 40 languages, was awarded the Prix Goncourt in 1993 for his novel The Rock of Tanios and is a member of the French Academy.
