We all hate getting annoying SMS messages and local providers aren’t doing anything to stop them. The ones I hate most, and which I reported on several occasions to Alfa, Touch and the Telecom Ministry, are those I get from 1085 or other four digit spamming numbers. I’ve always wondered if there’s a way to block or filter them, and I tried a couple of Android apps in the past but the one [SMS Spam Blocker – Postman] Abir posted about today is the best I’ve used so far.

Local providers aren’t doing anything to stop them because local providers are the reason they are sent to begin with. I’m sure Alfa and Mtc make a ton of profit by selling sms ad slots to companies.
if you have an iPhone.. Add the number to your contacts.. then go to settings, then phone then blocked then add the number you have saved and you will not get anymore sms or calls from that number
Actually you don’t even need to add them to your contacts, you can just tap on “contact” then the (i) sign, then scroll down to the end and tap on “block this caller”. However, This will only work for ads being sent by actual phone numbers, sometimes the ads are sent by programs from a computer in which case the name of the business will appear as the sender and not a phone number. Unfortunately blocking them won’t do any good because the phone will block the numerical equivalent of the name!! 🙁
