Following today’s meeting, The Higher Defense Council has decided to extend the general mobilization for six months over COVID-19 and more importantly, ex-PM Hassan Diab mentioned that dangerous chemical substances were discovered in the Zahrani storage containers and that they need to be dealt with ASAP. The Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission reviewed the report first raised by COMBILIFT, and confirmed the presence of highly dangerous nuclear substances.

We still don’t have much information on the topic, and one can only hope that the authorities will take swift measures to avoid a repeat of the Beirut Port blast. Also, I think this government should urgently ask foreign experts to check all our ports and any facilities that might contain dangerous substances.
