The Lebanese Health Minister announced that the death toll from Israel’s latest airstrike has risen to 31 kills including 3 children aged 4,6 and 10 respectively. There are 68 injured including two in a critical condition. The airstrike that was directed at Hezbollah had killed one of its key leaders Ibrahim Akil, the second top commander to be killed in the last two weeks, along with 14 other party members.

Akil had recently been promoted to number 2 in the party and was reportedly head of the elite Radwan Forces. He was also wanted by the US State department for playing a part in the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut and taking American & German hostages back in the 80s.

The death toll from last week is the highest in the year long war with Israel, with over 70 kills and thousands of injuries following the pager and walkie-talkie explosions then the Dahieh airstrike.
