My Alfa 4G speedtest results
I’ve been told by a couple of people that the internet is really bad lately in Lebanon, but personally speaking I couldn’t relate to what they are saying as I haven’t been experiencing any unusual slowness. My Alfa 4G connection is lightening fast and I’ve consumed the whole 5GB last month before my cycle ended. The 4MB Ogero DSL connection I have at work is very fast and the only issues we had lately were with our router and Ogero who were doing some maintenance a couple of weeks back. The 1Mb Ogero DSL connection I have at my parent’s house is still decent but I still can’t upgrade it due to the old phone cables. Added to that, I upgraded my Touch 3.9G dongle to the 4G dongle (which looks very ugly by the way) and I’ve been using it in different areas without any issues.
I don’t know about other providers like IDM, Sodetel or Wise but I haven’t noticed any change lately. Of course there’s no more free night traffic but this should rather improve the connection than slow it down.
Don’t get me wrong as I am not saying the internet situation is ideal in Lebanon, but I haven’t noticed any changes lately which is a good and a bad thing at the same time.
Yup, I confirm. In fact,I called IDM yesterday to complain about the speed which used to be much better before the upgrade. I have the 2 Mbps plan, the results of the test speed were around 0.9 Mbps before upgrade… now I’m barely getting 0.1 Mbps. However, they replied with the same answer that they usually use: “There is no apparent problem, but we will open a case for you”…
Its the ADSL that is fuckin slow !!!
Im on cyberia. I used to reach 0.8-0.9 on my 1 Mbps connection. Now it’s 0.1-0.2 on my 2 Mbps connection.
I’m on terranet and the speed is perfect with download and pages
but there is some problem when surfing facebook it is slower but I think it will be solved
for the night traffic who need free night traffic when there is 70 Gb (terranet 25$ plan)
I torrent and download large Pc game and there is 2 laptops and 6 phones and we all downloas ana we used 30 Gb only from 70Gb
IDM speed is slower than ever.
3G and 4G speed were never an issue, it was always fast.
Where did you get those results from 28mbps in lebanon ?
What do you recommend for internet usage , i’m in Canada and going soon to leb and this is a major issue for me .
Thank’s !
i was on 4m plan of wise and it was awesome now im on 1m plan , at the beginig i could play onlive games such as call of duty but when i started to download a lot my connection went to 20kbs , as you know wise said that it wasnt any problem but the amount of people connecting at there channels, cut the shit wise anyone that dont have any porblems with his wifi can share his isp name ? 😉
after the upgrade the internet speed really slow down , im using Wise , it was perfect before it , now its 0.1 kb/S 2MG SPEED , i called couple of times from September till now and always the same answer , the goverment are working on it , we wanted more than u do .( speed)
For most lebanese people (that I know of) internet speed isnt really a problem but for me, it’s killing me. Yesterday I was at my dad’s work and I downloaded a couple of images he needed, I realized the internet was unusually fast so I did a speedtest with 17Mbps as a result. I was shocked at how fast it was, at home I barely have 1 Mbps. Plus he pays $40 a month for unlimited internet and extremely fast speed. But at home, Ogero gives me a 40GB cap and 2 Mbps (eh mbala, its under 1Mbps).
Hii may i know which ISP ur dad is using?
still the same issue the internet is really really bad as i said before , its is less than 1mb and im living in achrafiyeh not outside the capital! thank you Boutrous harb
I made the experience that 4G mtc is many times slower than 3G mtc. specially the latency is bad. Do you know if Alfa 4G is faster than MTC 4G? Or they use the same infrastructure? Do you have any advice, which coffe shop has the fastest internet in hamra? i need internet for voip phonecalls. But with MTC 4g/3g I have a lot of interrupts..because i stay only for 3 weeks, it makes no sense for me to order an ogero DSL..
Regards
Martin
Haflier,
4G connection should be the best you can get as far as internet is concerned in Lebanon. Touch & Alfa both have reliable speeds almost all over Lebanon and its basically the same infrastructure yes but different coverage spots. I don’t know much about coffee shops serving internet in Hamra but I am sure none will be faster than a 3G connection.
Did u try call support?
I absolutely agree. I am in visiting Lebanon as we speak and the internet is incredibly slow. I last visited 3 years ago, and my father’s 512kbps plan was very sufficient for my needs. 3 years later, it is extremely slow. I cannot download a single file without failing, and opening a webpage… 56K dial-up was faster.
I am now using 3G for all my needs as it is quite fast, but very expensive. I believe what it is is the internet providers being very greedy (as are most Lebanese companies) and not increasing bandwidth as they have more subscribers.
I have 1.5mbps 44$/month from iclick (chadi) isp. All i have to say is it’s probably the worst connection on earth.a 12.5 gb update took 100hours+ download time. It says its 1.5mbps but when u test it its just 70kb/s and sometimes only sometimes after 1 am it gets over 100kb/s… okey lets compare this with russia/armenia internet 44$ u buy 100mbps that is 10000kb/s.. its okey if its more expensive in lebanon by 2times or 3times… but cmon 100 times??? Thats some b.s.
