When the first song from the new album “Yemken” came out, it didn’t feel like a Fairouz song to me but it was just one song so I thought I wait for the whole album. Unfortunately, the whole album is a disappointment, the lyrics are a bit childish and the takes on popular songs like “Bésame Mucho” and “Don’t Cry for me Argentina” aren’t that great. Also what’s that “Baytee Sgheer bi Canada” song? Couldn’t they have come up with a suitable song about her house here and how she’s spending her days?

I still bought the whole album because it’s Fayrouz and unlike the song that first came out, her angelic voice is still unchanged and a joy to listen to in the official album.

I really hope this won’t be Fayrouz’ last album. I think all Fayrouz fans want (and deserve) one last collaboration between Ziad & Fayrouz.
