IPT opened a self-service gas station in Kaslik. I think they already have one on the Batroun highway. There’s still a full service option though.
Has anyone tried it yet?

Does the self-service offer lower prices or do you pay the same amount for no service?
I was thinking why would anyone want to use self-service? I’m sure the prices are the same or at least almost the same which is not worth going self-service.
Why wouldn’t they be the same?
I am not sure to be honest, maybe I will give it a try tonight.
I think many Lebanese are too lazy to fill their gas tanks by themselves, they got used to be served so I think this new system won’t work out well.
It is a rebranding of an old station. The owners are the same
Can you also pay self-service, ie payment machine for credit card or notes?
Frenchy, I think you missed the point. 😛
They key part here is that it is a self-service station.
And I gotta agree with JenJen, people are probably too used to being served, if there is no real difference on the price it probably won’t work.
Hence the need of a realistic minimum wage in Lebanon and almost all the other Arab countries.
I really don’t get this. What’s the benefit to the consumer? Also what are the owners getting out of this? Saving the cheap wages? I would understand if the majority of gas stations were self-service and one comes up with a service for a small fee but the other way around doesn’t make any sense.
When you use self-service you save 1000 L.L. for every 20Liters spent, in addition to that you win rewards while using the IPT “Self-service Rewards Card” ( free Laserwash carwash, free Autogadget car accessories,… )
The benefit is you don’t have to tip the guy filling your gas- supposedly. Though I’m not sure the Lebanese have this concept of tipping. In Canada, most stations are self-serve when I go to to the full service, I give the guy $2 for filling up my gas.
